Mixing it up - Reaching out to you

Communications are key to keeping our membership informed and engaged. Up until now, we have primarily relied on our monthly e-newsletters along with our Connected Community website (csia.connectedcommunity.org) for this.

Realizing that different people have different preferences for how they like to stay in touch, we are moving toward providing more diversity in our regular communications approach. Our new approach will provide CSIA information and updates to members via electronic newsletter (4 times annually), a printed mailer (2 times annually) and a 30-minute, webinar-style live broadcast (3 times annually). I also plan to record a one-minute video summary of the e-mail newsletters, starting with this issue.

We gave the live webinar broadcast format a trial run last month when we provided feedback about the 2016 Executive Conference to our committee volunteers. The format was well received, and we will use it to invite our entire membership to attend live CSIA updates, the first one being in November.

In August, we will mail a printed update piece to CSIA members. While some may consider this approach a bit retro, it may prove valuable in an age where e-mail/spam filters make it hard to reach some members electronically. We will use this to remind you of some of the basic benefits of membership - a kind of member cheat sheet. Please pass this around your office and share with company members and even visitors who may represent potential future members.

We have developed the following tentative communications calendar:

 January        July  E-mail
 February  Print    August  Print
 March  LIVE! Webinar    September   E-mail
 April  E-mail    October
 May      November  LIVE! Webinar
 June  LIVE! Webinar    December  E-mail

Watch for the first printed mailer some time in August and let us know what you think!

Webinars work out well for us... easy to schedule and if you miss it due to work demands, the replays are great and can be viewed at your leisure.
