Put on your marketing hat and listen up!

If you handle the marketing for your company, read on. Otherwise, forward this to your marketing manager.

Why update your Exchange profile?
You’ve probably heard from me recently, imploring you to get your Exchange profile completed.

It’s now become nearly a daily occurrence when an end user client calls or uses the live chat feature on our website to ask for a vendor that carries X or an integrator specializing in Y and located in Z.

When I get these requests, I instruct them to do three things:

  1. Use the Industrial Automation Exchange’s Find an Integrator or Find a Product Feature.
  2. Research the companies by viewing any videos, articles and data sheets posted on their profiles.
  3. Ask a question to solicit help on our Exchange community page.

You get what you put in!
The profiles that receive the most interactions are ones:

  • That are tagged with industries, specialties, products and geographical information.
  • That include company logos and staff pictures.
  • That include articles posted regularly.
  • Whose company posts and replies to questions.

Members that have not maintained their profile or actively use the community feature do not see as many clicks or interactions.

The Exchange is not a directory to set and forget.
I will be happy to discuss the strategy behind the Exchange, and why it might become your biggest source of traffic.

There are too many benefits to discuss here about content and interactive marketing. But in short, the Exchange helps you leave “internet breadcrumbs” in a relevant location. I promise you, if you consistently play the content marketing game, you will build an ever increasing source of relevant traffic and leads.

Schedule a 1-on-1.
Is the Exchange part of your marketing plan? Have you made it part of your marketing “ecosystem?” If you are attending the Executive Conference, I invite you to meet with me onsite in Puerto Rico. You’ll probably find me at the registration desk, or in the SI Community Café sponsored again this year by Inductive Automation. If not, let’s meet via GoToMeeting afterwards. Email me at tveroeven@controlsys.org or call me at 608-310-5575.
