Back to our core: CSIA Best Practices

CSIA exists today because a group of SIs got together to help each other build better SI companies. The main vehicle they chose to share the collective wisdom was through the Best Practices and Benchmarks manual. This important document remains relevant because association members periodically review it in a truly collaborative spirit. This year we will see the launch of Rev 5.0 and with it a special effort to re-emphasize Best Practices in our association.

What are we doing to re-emphasize BPs?

  1. 2016 Business Series Webinars will be organized around the CSIA Best Practices. Several members who have been CSIA Certified multiple times will share their advice through a peer-to-peer approach. The first webinar of the series will be delivered by Jeff Miller, director of project management at Interstates Control Systems, Feb. 25.
  2. Additional fee-based remote delivery training around project management in collaboration with ISA will begin March 8.
  3. Best Practices in-person training will again be offered prior to the Executive Conference, on April 18-19.
  4. “Un-conference” sessions at the Executive Conference will include the BP Rev 5.0 launch as well as Peer Group facilitation, as peer groups have greatly contributed in the past to increasing BP adoption and, ultimately, certification.
  5. We are launching the Phased Model and 2016 support group to help interested system integration members adopt the CSIA Best Practices.
  6. Speakers at the Executive Conference will reference BP chapters related to their presentations.

What do we envision?

The launch of Rev 5.0 of the CSIA Best Practices and Benchmarks manual is a great opportunity to reinforce our core. We hope to get more SI members interested in BPs, adopting more and more aspects, ultimately culminating in the Certification of their companies.
