LATAM, training development, and changes in committee leadership

LATAM

I'm writing this month's newsletter on board my flight to Mexico City for a fully packed week of meetings with local SIs and partners. My goal is to understand what is working and what needs to be adjusted to bring the CSIA Mexico chapter to the next level. You may know that, as of 2014, we developed a Spanish-language version of our best practices document. CSIA has two certified SIs in Mexico, and I recently learned that a new SI member located in the northern part of the country is working seriously toward their certification. We want to leverage what we have learned there and apply it toward growth throughout the rest of Latin America.

Training

Meanwhile, I continue the work started by Bob Lowe toward delivering a broader array of training. We remain focused on project management training as our first deliverable, but are keeping the bigger picture of providing best practices (BP), or specific areas of BP, training in mind. We have been looking at ways to deliver training remotely, as requested via the recent membership survey (more information on survey results). We realize that there are benefits derived from on-site, instructor-led training, but for some, the options are remote training or no training at all.

We have also been working jointly with a partner to provide best practices on-site, instructor-led training for their SI network around the globe (including the United States).  This training will be open to all CSIA members. We are working out the details and hope to release more on this soon.

Committee leadership

Recent changes have taken place in the leadership of some of our committees:

  • Marc Hunter (CSIA-Certified Synergy) is now chair of the Client Marketing Committee.
  • Jessica Mlinaric (CSIA-Certified DMC) is now chair of the Integrator Marketing Committee.
  • John Weber (Software Toolbox) and I will be co-chairing the Partner committee.

We thank Mark Moriarty (Rockwell) and Sam Hoff (Patti Engineering) for their past work as leads for the Partner Committee, and wish all new chairs the best.
