Last week I did a presentation at the Delaware Valley Chapter of ISPE dinner meeting.  It was at the invitation of Jim Cummings of TSD Optimation. My co-presenter was Duane Grob, TSD's Engineering Manager.  The purpose was to show that CSIA Certification can substitute for a substantial part of the PDA TR32 Vendor Audit Guideline.  This can be important to Life Science companies becasue it reduces the resouces required of them during the vendor qualification process.  Why am I blogging about this?  Because the PowerPoint presentation is in the Connected Community library called [more]

Attendance at the monthly webinars continues to be strong. If you aren't taking advantage of these 30-45 minute educational sessions that are specific to what our members do then I encourage you to consider attending.
The reason for this blog, in addition to promoting webinar attendance, is to inform you that the Webex Player that is required to view the archived webinars was updated. If you have a version that you downloaded from Webex prior to December 2011 then remove it and download the latest one (it takes less then a minute).  Note that it's a link to Software Toolbox which hosts and sponsors our monthly webinars.  You'll find the link to the player and to all archived webinars in controlsys.org under News and Programs. Enjoy!

As Engineers we owe it to our profession to do everything we can to promote engineering as a profession whenever we have a chance.  This involvement can take many different shapes.  CSIA would like you as our member organizations to get your companies involved in promoting our profession to local students.  Currently Bob Lowe, our Executive Director and Joe Martin, our Membership Relationship Committee Chairman both are actively working with Automation Federation.   Among other objectives, this organization is actively promoting Automation as a career.  Many System Integrators are already active in programs similar to this.  You may be active in your local Professional Engineering organizations and be participating in Engineer for a Day programs during Engineers’ week.  In these programs high school students visit engineering oriented companies to get a feel for what goes on there.  You can make a commitment by speaking on Career day at an elementary or high school,  offer to be a Science fair judge, be an advisor to any type of science or math club similar to First Robotics.  Get involved in your local college or university.  Many Engineering programs have an Industry Council that they engage during re-certification of their engineering curriculum.
